Primary Colours / Couleurs primaires hosted a gathering on Lekwungen Territory with Indigenous artists, artists of colour, and artists of settler heritages from across Canada. We came together in Victoria to update the 30 years plus conversations about the history of colonialism, race(ism) and artistic practice. We amplified these voices so they could be heard and understood by more Canadians.
This interdisciplinary, intergenerational event urged artists to share their artistic practices, to generate new knowledge and to propose fresh creation stories for the project called Canada. PC/Cp provided a unique framework for cultural critique, for building collaborative art opportunities in 2018 - and beyond - and for an urgent re-imagining of the Canadian art system.
This gathering was held in Lekwungen territory near the city of Victoria for four days, from September 23 to 26, 2017. For more information, click HERE
